Receiving Help - Identifying those in need

Those in crisis need can receive a food parcel from the food bank in exchange for a voucher which may be obtained through support agencies. NEW we will also consider issuing food on proof of current receipt of Universal Credit or ESA.

The supply of food is dependant upon donations we cannot guarantee there will always be food sufficient to meet demand.

COVID PANDEMIC operation - we are doing a delivery service only during the pandemic to minimize risk to clients and volunteers. You need to text by Tuesday each week to receive a delivery on Thursday afternoon.

The foodbank will issue vouchers to social workers, care workers, GPs, Citizens Advice Bureau and other agencies dealing with people in need. These agents may contact the co-ordinator on 07958 390303 If you are in need and working with one of these agencies please give them these contact details if they are unaware of scheme.

We now issue on Thursdays between 1:30-4pm from Chy an Gweal Chapel Sunday School Room, St Ives Road, Carbis Bay (on the right just past the Tesco roundabout when leaving St Ives). You will also be entitled to a hot beverage, soup and a roll, and in the future we hope to be abe to serve a hot meal. There will also be internet facilities and Free WiFi with help in searching and applying for jobs etc.

Special food parcels at Christmas

Due to the generous donations of residents in St Ives and Carbis Bay we were able to give out 48 food parcels containing Christmassy items in 2020.

We welcome donations throughout the year to prepare to make Christmas for those facing hard times a little less painful.
In 2013, our first year of trying to help people in need over Christmas, we were able to give 12 hampers to the Cornwall Refuge centres for those recovering from domestic abuse, and 20 hampers for the elderly in need in the St Ives and Carbis Bay area.
